Student Police Academy
Make plans to participate in this unique biannual opportunity to experience firsthand the daily work of a university police officer. Students are encouraged to complete the academy by participating in a 2-, 4-, or 6-hour ride along with a UPD officer. Personal Safety
Demonstrates the importance of situational awareness in identifying possible dangers in your environment.

Avoid, Deny, Defend: Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events
Teaches survival techniques for an active shooter scenario, including what to expect when the police arrive.

Alcohol Awareness
Covers the dangers of alcohol abuse, along with resources for those struggling with alcohol addiction, and reviews state laws and university regulations concerning alcohol use.

Drug Awareness
Covers the dangers of drug abuse, along with resources for those struggling with drug addiction, and reviews state laws and university regulations concerning drug use.

Impaired and Distracted Driving Prevention
Educates students about driving while intoxicated (DWI), including use of a driving simulator to safely experience the dangers of impaired or distracted driving, and provides a review of state laws and university regulations concerning DWI.

Sexual Assault
Provides sexual assault information and personal safety tips, along with resources for sexual assault survivors.

Property Safety
Provides information on how to secure your property to prevent theft.

Standard Response Protocol
Teaches the four responses to emergencies while on campus, which use standard language and actions to make responding to an emergency less stressful.

Explains how UPD operates and introduces policing skills and policies in this bi-yearly course
